The Orthopedic Clinic Call Centre phone line is open from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 3 pm. If you receive the automated voice message, please leave a brief message with the patient’s name, telephone number and the location (McMaster, Hamilton General or Juravinski Hospital site) of the Orthopedic/Fracture Clinic where the patient needs to have their appointment booked.
If you were a patient in the Emergency Department, and need to book a follow up appointment, please call on the day of your visit or the next business day. Please have your Health Card number ready when you call.
Due to the high number of calls, messages may take up to 24 hours to be returned. If you leave a message on a weekend or holiday your call will be returned within 24 hours of the next business day.
When coming to your appointment please note that we are a fragrance restricted hospital. Many of our staff and patients have asthma and other allergies. Please do not wear perfume, cologne, aftershave, scented hairspray or other scented products.
If you need information about a surgery date, lab or diagnostic tests or you require instructions or information from your surgeon, please do not call this number. Please call your Orthopedic surgeon's office and speak with the secretary.
If you are calling from a physician's office
If you have an urgent patient referral, please page the Orthopedic surgeon on call through the hospital paging 905 521-2100 ext. 76443.
If you have a non urgent patient referral please fax through directly to the orthopedic surgeon's office.
The Orthopedic Clinic Call Centre does not accept referrals from physician's offices- they must be sent directly to an orthopedic surgeon's office.
Hamilton Health Sciences has three Orthopedic/ Fracture Clinics. The Orthopedic Clinic at the Hamilton General Hospital and the Orthopedic Clinic at the Juravinski Hospital serve the needs of adult patients requiring the services of orthopaedic care.
The McMaster University Medical Centre (MUMC) Fracture Clinic provides orthopedic care to children, adolescents and adults.
All patients are referred to the clinics through the Emergency Department or through their family physician.
