Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence
Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Centre
The Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Centre (SA/DVCC) provides specialized healthcare for children, adolescents, women, transgendered persons, and men who have experienced sexual assault and/or domestic violence. Our vision is to ensure comprehensive health care is provided with sensitivity and privacy for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Important Change in Access to Services
As of April 4, 2011 the procedure to access the services of the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Centre within our Hamilton Emergency Departments has changed for adults.
Victims of sexual assault ages 18 and over will no longer be able to access the program through the Emergency Department at McMaster University Medical Centre (McMaster Emergency is for children only). Victims of sexual assault ages 18 and over should present to one of Hamilton Health Sciences Emergency Departments serving adults - Juravinski Hospital and Hamilton General Hospital
Victims 17 years of age and under will continue to be seen at the McMaster Emergency Department.
