Become a Volunteer
The process to becoming a volunteer:
1. Application Form: To become a volunteer at Hamilton Health Sciences, the first step is to complete an Application Form. If there is a suitable opening, you will be invited to attend an Information Session. Click here for an Application Form. 2. Information Session: These sessions are held regularly at most hospitals. The purpose of the session is to provide individuals with education and communication in regards to:

3. Health Review: A two-step TB test and up-to-date immunization information is required for all volunteers. Click here for more details.
4. Interview: Following the Information Session, an interview will be arranged for each volunteer. This interview will determine the qualifications, ability and suitability of the individual to perform on behalf of the organization. Your Coordinator will review suitable placements and discuss program needs. Interviews are approximately 30 minutes in length.
5. Screening: Two reference checks will be completed on each potential volunteer. A police check may also be required.
6. Placement: A variety of placements are available at each hospital. A match will be made based on the volunteer's interest, skills and availability.
7. Orientation: A tour of the Volunteer Resources department will be arranged to familiarize the volunteer with their surroundings. An introduction to the sign-in procedures, lockers, fire & safety for the area will be reviewed. An ID badge and uniform will be issued.
8. Training: All volunteers will receive placement training by an experience staff person or volunteer.
