The Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association (HHSVA) is a non-profit organization operating retail and parking services across the Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) family of hospitals. Proceeds are donated to Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) to enhance patient care. Each year, the HHSVA provides funding for the purchase of vital patient care equipment and program funding, including:
- Specialized wheelchairs, walkers, accessories and attachments
- Therapy tools and devices
- Furnishings for waiting rooms, family lounges and patient rooms
- Equipment to support health care professionals in caring for patients with low mobility, including lifts, slings and patient transfer aids
- Ongoing funding support for various patient care programs, such as Therapeutic Recreation and the Social Work Emergency Fund
In January 2026, the Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association (HHSVA) will be introducing a new funding program to support patient care at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS), replacing the previous Patient Services One-Time and Ongoing funding programs. Those two programs, and their funds, have now been combined into the new HHSVA Patient Care Fund.

Single Application Process
The HHSVA Patient Care Fund has a single application that includes sections for patient equipment requests and program funding requests. This allows departments to apply for funding for patient equipment, program funding or both, all in one application.
To Apply
Applications for the HHSVA Patient Care Fund are accepted and reviewed annually, with the call for applications running from mid-January to the end of February. Applications are reviewed in March, and all applicants are contacted in April.
The following are the dates for the upcoming 2026 application period:
- Call for applications: January 12, 2026
- Application deadline: February 28, 2026
