As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) is taking precautions to keep patients, families, staff, physicians and volunteers safe including temporary changes to on-site presence of those providing services to the hospital.

There are also restrictions in place for visitors and patients. For additional information about visiting the hospital please visit our Appointments & Visiting page.

The Procurement Department is responsible for the acquisition of goods, services, consulting and construction for all of HHS. Procurement is authorized to lead the Strategic Sourcing process using Requests for Proposals, Invitations to Bid, Supplier Qualifications and Requests for Quotations in accordance with the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive.

Logistics supports the receiving and delivery of supply inventories at all sites, working with Plexxus’ Hospital Logistics Inc. JIT warehouse to ensure the right supplies are in the right places in the right quantities at the right time. Logistics also oversees inter-hospital transportation and courier systems.

Proof of Vaccination

Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) requires all businesses/entities (including their employees, contractors and other representatives operating at hospital sites to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon request as per the HHS COVID-19 Vaccination Management Policy. Proof is a vaccination receipt or proof, in writing, by a physician or nurse practitioner that clearly outlines the reason why the individual cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 and the time-period for the medical reason (being permanent or time-limited).

It is expected that all vendors, service providers and contractors operating or carrying on business on the premises of any of HHS spaces ensure that their employees comply with this policy, as well as all other applicable HHS policies.

Self-Screening for COVID-19

All vendors, service providers, contractors and their sub-contractors and representatives coming to an HHS site are required to self-screen for:

1. symptoms of fever, and/or cough, and/or difficulty breathing
2. close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days
3. travel outside of Canada within the last 14 days
4. close contact with a person with acute respiratory illness and travel outside of Canada within 14 days prior to onset of illness.

If the answer is YES to any of the above, the service provider must not enter the hospital.

Mandatory Masking

The provincial announcement lifting most masking requirements in Ontario by March 21 includes a provision that masking will remain in effect for some high-risk settings, such as hospitals. At Hamilton Health Sciences, we will continue to require everyone who enters our hospitals to wear a mask.

• A medical mask will be provided at designated hospital entrances. However, those who choose to wear their own clean, well-fitting mask (N95 or KN95) will be permitted to do so.
• Those who refuse to properly wear a mask will not be permitted entry.
• Respirators, or masks with valves, and cloth masks are not permitted.
