HHS holds strong as top 10 research hospital
Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) continues to hold strong as a top 10 research hospital in Canada.
Research Infosource Inc. — an independent leading analyst of Canadian hospitals, universities, colleges and corporations — has released its list of Canada’s Top 40 research hospitals for 2023, with HHS ranking eighth nationally.
“HHS is a leading academic and research hospital, and we are committed to even greater success in the future as a national leader in health research,” says Dr. Marc Jeschke, vice president of research and chief scientific officer for HHS.
Research Infosource’s website lists its annual rankings going back to 2011, with HHS making the top 10 every year. Its annual list is determined by the total research spend by an institute, with investments coming primarily from philanthropy, government and industry, and supporting the innovative research activities at each organization.
While HHS ranked eighth in both 2023 and 2022, research spending increased from $133.5 million to $150.2 million over that time period.
Rankings are a reminder of the vital role hospitals play in driving health-care innovation and improving health-care outcomes across the country.
This ranking is based on the 2023 fiscal year, from April 2022 to March 2023.
