Susan Tighe, McMaster University’s President and Vice-Chancellor, joins the HHS Board of Directors
Hamilton Health Sciences is pleased to welcome Dr. Susan Tighe, President and Vice-Chancellor of McMaster University to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Tighe is a professor of civil engineering and a licensed professional engineer since 1995. She is internationally recognized for her exceptional contributions to the development, design, and management of sustainable infrastructure.
Her extensive experience in governance, research, and academia will further strengthen the HHS Board’s expertise in these areas. Throughout her career, Dr. Tighe has pioneered research programs spanning fundamental science to the global application of her innovative designs on roads and airfields.
She is also a strong advocate for collaboration between government and industry, drawing on her deep experience in both public and private sectors. A champion of research excellence, high-quality teaching, and enriching learner experiences, Dr. Tighe is also a keen supporter of digital learning and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Her leadership roles include serving as McMaster’s Provost and Vice-President (Academic), Deputy Provost and Associate Vice-President, Integrated Planning and Budgeting at the University of Waterloo, and past President of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering
