Hamilton Health Sciences earns dual recognition from Trillium Gift of Life Network
For the 10th consecutive year, Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) has recognized Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) – this year with two prestigious awards that showcase the hospital’s ongoing commitment to the province’s organ donation program:
- Provincial Conversion Rate Award for achieving a conversion rate of 67 per cent, surpassing both the TGLN target of 63 percent and HHS’s own 2023/2024 rate of 63 per cent.
- Provincial Eligible Approach Rate Award for achieving a 91 per cent approach rate, exceeding the TGLN target of 90 per cent and demonstrating leading practices in facilitating donation discussions with eligible patients and their families at end of life.
In 2024/2025, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) supported 24 organ donors, resulting in 71 organs donated for transplant that saved 58 lives. In addition, 57 tissue donors contributed to enhancing the lives of many more.
Organ donation is a complex process, and the conversion rates reflect how well TGLN and HHS work together to save lives.
Over 4 million Ontarians have formally registered their consent to organ and tissue donation. HHS encourages everyone to talk to their family about their donation decision, and visit www.BeADonor.ca to register or learn more.
