HAMILTON, ON – Today, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) leaders, staff and physicians celebrated the upcoming opening of the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH) alongside The Honorable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario and other representatives from all levels of government.
Please see the news release from the Government of Ontario for details.
The new WLMH is 80 per cent larger and features:
- 55 inpatient beds
- six maternal/newborn suites & eight bassinets
- expanded surgical capacity
- an expanded emergency department
- an indoor ambulance bay
- an Indigenous healing space
- an inpatient dining room and outdoor terrace
WLMH is the first hospital in Canada/Ontario to have 100 per cent single-inpatient rooms – the gold standard for infection control, privacy, and comfort. Additionally, WLMH was built with sustainable design elements such as LEED Silver certification, rooftop solar panels and EV charging stations.
Work to decommission the old hospital, install parking and complete landscaping will commence early in the new year. This work should be complete by the end of 2026.
