McMaster Children’s Hospital ranked one of the best in the world
HAMILTON, ON – Children in Hamilton and the surrounding region have access to one of the best pediatric hospitals in the world. Newsweek recently ranked McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH) within their top 100 pediatric hospitals list – fifth in Canada, and second in Ontario behind Toronto’s SickKids, which was ranked number one in the world.

MCH has been providing care to children from across the region since 1988. Here, patients ranging in age from infancy to 17 receive care through a family-centred approach that accounts for the child’s emotional, mental and physical well-being.
The hospital is home to the fastest-growing kids-only emergency department in Ontario, one of Canada’s most advanced neonatal intensive care units, and a range of programs and clinics with unique expertise in a number of areas including children’s cancer, digestive diseases, and mental health.
“McMaster Children’s Hospital is much more than a building – it’s our people and the care they deliver, together with innovative practices and leading edge technology that makes it such a unique and important place to care for our children,” says Rob MacIsaac, CEO of HHS. “In our 30+ year history, we have been continuously developing our programs and services to serve the needs of youth in our communities. The honour was announced the same week as the passing of Dr. Peter Dent, who is arguably best remembered as the visionary and driving force behind the creation of what is now known as MCH and the adjacent Ronald McDonald House. His legacy lives on through the work being completed at MCH, and this recognition also belongs to him. In partnership with global research firm Statista, Newsweek invited more than 40,000 medical professionals from more than 20 countries to recommend hospitals based on their level of expertise in a given medical subspecialty.
