Our @mcmasterchildrens emergency department has recently been seeing a steady increase in visits due to the respiratory illness season.

So, here are some tips to managing a cough and breathing issues at home and when it's time to seek medical attention.

Not all cold/flu/RSV/COVID cases require a trip to the emergency department, so please know your health-care options like our Urgent Care Centre, your family doctor or calling 811 to speak to a registered nurse.

A reminder that now is a good time for you and your children to get the flu and COVID vaccines to decrease the risk of severe illness.

This day aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world. It's a day for global action to increase awareness, promote advocacy and create opportunities for discussion on challenges and solutions.

Cathy is a clinical leader for the pediatric intensive care unit at our McMaster Children's Hospital. She has also experienced domestic violence. “As a health care worker, being a victim of DV is hard to accept because you’re used to helping others. You’re not used to needing the help yourself.”
