2022 Celebrations: Investing in infrastructure and growth

$20 million investment will improve access to high-quality care

The province announced in April that it is investing over $20 million to modernize Hamilton Health Sciences. This funding will support planning for the redevelopment of Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre and the expansion of Hamilton General Hospital’s emergency department to improve access to services for the growing region around Hamilton, West Niagara and south-central Ontario.

Our year in review

The spring of 2022 was a time of provincial announcements for the future of three Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) hospital sites. The good news started rolling in April when The Government of Ontario announced $20 million in funding to modernize the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre and Hamilton General Hospital’s emergency department.

Then in May, the province approved the start of construction on the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby following the closing of the project contract between EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH) and HHS.

We’re thrilled to share that construction is well underway. Check out the highlights section below, and visit www.wlmh.ca for more on this project, including construction updates.
