Advancing gender equity in health care in Hamilton

Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, and the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University today jointly signed the Hamilton Charter for Promoting Gender Equity in Health Care.

The charter was signed by leadership of the three organizations during the Annual Faculty of Health Sciences Women’s Symposium called “Building Alliances for the Future” on Mar. 31, 2022.

The charter calls for work to advance and include female-identifying, gender-diverse, racialized and other equity deserving health care professionals and educators to create an environment of inclusion for all and to bring about gender equity for women of many ethno-racial backgrounds.

In signing the Hamilton Charter Promoting Gender Equity in Healthcare, three of Hamilton’s major health sciences organizations are committing to continuing to pursue and foster an inclusive, barrier-free environment for all equity-deserving individuals.

The three organizations will continue to work within their Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategies to advance the Charter.
