The current wave of the pandemic is causing staffing pressures across all our services and throughout the entire health system. As a result, we need to postpone non-urgent appointments and procedures so that we can focus our limited resources on emergency and critical care.
This is being done at all hospitals in Ontario, and is consistent with Directive #2 from the provincial government.
We know this causes incredible anxiety and stress for our patients and families, and for that we are very sorry. We hope these measures won’t be necessary for long, and we’ll continue to update our patients and community as the situation evolves.
The ramp down of activities includes:
- All non-urgent/non-emergent surgeries and procedures
- All non-urgent/non-emergent diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic testing
- All non-urgent/non-emergent ambulatory care.
Our teams are doing all they can to minimize disruptions throughout these challenging times. Our staff and physicians appreciate your patience and kindness as they work hard to respond to the needs of our community.
Please continue to call 9-1-1 or go to an emergency department if you require urgent medical care.
