Pay a Bill
You may be charged for products or services that are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). If there are costs for your visit, Hamilton Health Sciences will keep track of the charges and invoice you for all uninsured hospital services monthly or when you are discharged.
What you might have to pay for:
Uninsured services depend on your insurance coverage. Below are a list of coverage categories you may belong to:
- Patients with an Ontario health card (OHIP Card)
- Patients receiving WSIB benefits
- Patients with a health card from another province or territory
- Patients with private insurance
- Patients in the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
- International patients
- Patients receiving other benefits
- Patients with no health coverage
How to pay your bill:
There are several ways for you to pay your hospital bill:
Credit Card - Online through MyChart
Paying your hospital bill online is easy and convenient. You can make a secure payment using your credit card from a computer or mobile device, with the option to print a payment receipt immediately.
Access MyChart on www.mychart.hhsc.ca by logging in or paying as a guest using the Guarantor ID and MyChart activation code outlined on your bill. Accepted credit cards are Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Credit Card - By Phone
To pay your hospital bill using a credit card, please call our Patient Accounts team at 905-521-2100 ext. 77000. Accepted credit cards are Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Bank - Online or In Person
You can pay your hospital bill through most banks or financial institutions.
Using your online banking features, add “HAMILTON HEALTH SCIENCES” as a payee.

Please contact your bank or financial institution for instructions and accepted methods of payment.
Note: When paying for an invoice with a service date prior to June 4, 2022, you must enter letters and numbers only and do not include slashes “/” as the account number. For example, if your account number is MA011808/21, it must be entered as MA01180821.
When paying for an invoice with a service date of June 4, 2022 and onward, you must enter numbers only outlined on your bill as the Guarantor ID as your account number. This can range from 3-10 digits.
Cheque - By Mail
To pay your hospital bill by mail, please make your cheque payable to Hamilton Health Sciences and address it to:

Note: A fee of $20 will apply to all cheques from accounts with non-sufficient funds (NSF).
Debit or Credit Card - Point of Sale Machines
If you have a debit or credit card, you can pay your hospital bill using the point of sale machines located at each of our sites. You must bring a copy of your invoice with you when making payment.
Note: Cash is not an accepted form of payment. Accepted credit cards are Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
