The Musculoskeletal Central Intake and Assessment Centre (MSK CIAC) is one point of contact for hip, knee and low back pain referrals in Ontario Health (West) and includes Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand, Burlington and Brant Region. We see adults with moderate to severe osteoarthritis of their hip or knee, and adults with low back pain. The Ontario Health (West) HNHB region includes Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand, Brant, Burlington and most of Norfolk county. Visit our website mskciac.ca for more information.
Hip and Knee Assessments
Assessments take place in MSK CIAC Hip and Knee Assessment Centres. The MSK CIAC Hip and Knee Program has four Assessment Centres located at hospitals in Hamilton, Brantford, Burlington and Niagara. Patients will be booked for an assessment at the location closest to their home, or they may choose a preferred location, or the first available assessment at any of the locations within the region.
Low Back Pain Assessments
Patients are assessed by an Advanced Practice Provider (Physiotherapist or Chiropractor). The Advanced Practice Provider has special training in low back pain. Assessments take place in MSK CIAC Low Back Pain Assessment Centres. The MSK CIAC Low Back Pain Program has 15 Assessment Centre locations in communities across the region. Patients will be booked for an assessment at the location closest to their home.
