The Boris Clinic is a joint outpatient clinic in partnership with McMaster University and funded by Hamilton’s Boris family. This innovative clinic allows adult patients with complex health problems to see several specialists with different medical specialties during one visit, under one roof.

Endocrinology and The Diabetes Care and Research Program

The Diabetes Care and Research Program (DCRP) is an outpatient clinic, located within the Boris Clinic. The DCRP provides seamless, integrated care for patients at risk of diabetes or diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. This care is provided by an expert healthcare team.

The DCRP also provides monthly information and education sessions to patients and families with a new diagnosis of diabetes, as well as mentorship and advice to other diabetes programs.

In 2018, the DCRP has been recognized by Diabetes Canada as meeting the standards outlined in the Diabetes Canada Standards Recognition Program.

In the DCRP, services related to diabetes care include assessment, diagnosis, education, follow-up care, coaching, facilitation of physical activity, psychological assessment and therapy and the preparation and distribution of education materials.

Patients attending the program also have opportunities to participate in a variety of international and national diabetes research studies, as well as locally initiated research projects that are testing new therapies and improve the care of people with diabetes.

General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic

The General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic (GIMRAC) is an outpatient clinic with a multidisciplinary team, located within the Boris Clinic.

GIMRAC provides quick access to internal medicine consultations to patients referred from Hamilton Health Sciences emergency departments, the Urgent Care Centre, and community physicians.

GIMRAC is also an Ambulatory Clinical Teaching Unit with a very strong academic and educational mandate for medical residents and other learners.

Medical Day Care

Medical Day Care is an outpatient clinic, located within the Boris Clinic, that provides treatments to patients diagnosed with a wide range of disorders and chronic complex diseases. These treatments are administered through an intravenous line.

Treatments include, but are not limited to, the administration of blood and blood products, immunoglobulin, iron, antibiotics, biologics and other drug therapies.  Research studies are also conducted in Medical Day Care.
