Spasticity Clinic (Neurology)

Spasticity clinic is a consultative multidisciplinary clinic providing diagnostic assessments for children and youth suspected to have cerebral palsy. The team includes physician, nurse practitioner, physiotherapist and occupational therapist. 

The team provides consultation and guidance on possible medical and therapeutic interventions.

The clinic provides specific medical interventions including medications for tone management, Botulinum toxin injections to muscles affected by hypertonia (spasticity as well as dystonia), Ethanol nerve blocks.

Our clinic team values the input of community based therapists involved in the care of the patient.

Patients/Conditions To Refer

We accept referrals for patients with suspected or confirmed diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy or other neuromotor/genetic conditions presenting with tone problems who would benefit from counseling and intervention targeting tone problems. 

We accept patients 6 months to 17 years, living in Hamilton and surrounding regions including Niagara, Brant, Haldimand/Norfolk, Kitchener/Waterloo, Guelph and Cambridge.
