Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic

The Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinic is located in The Centre for Child and Youth Digestive Health (CCYDC) at McMaster Children’s Hospital. The centre cares for approximately 350 children and teens up with IBD up to age 18 from our region, Care is provided by multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, a nurse practitioner, social worker, child life and dietitian. Patients suspected of IBD are expedited at referral so that treatment can begin quickly. Treatment modalities include nutritional therapy and the most effective pharmaceuticals. Patients are seen regularly for health maintenance rather than disease management to maximize healthy personal development and educational achievement. As a member of the CidsCaNN National pediatric IBD Network, McMaster participates in national programs to develop the most advanced and effective treatments. The robust Adult GI Program at the McMaster site assures strong support services and a smooth transition to adult care.
